The Debate Competition provides participants with an opportunity to express their ideas, defend their viewpoints, and engage in meaningful discussions on contemporary topics. The event promotes critical thinking, effective communication, logical reasoning, and public speaking skills while encouraging participants to respect diverse opinions and present well-structured arguments in a competitive environment.

General Guidelines

  • Participants must report to the venue on or before 9:30 AM and at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the event.
  • Participants must carry a valid ID card and registration confirmation.
  • The Debate Competition will be conducted in two rounds.
  • Participants are expected to be well-prepared, articulate, and respectful throughout the competition.
  • Participants must adhere strictly to the allotted preparation and speaking time.
  • The decision of the judges and event officials must be respected.
  • Participants must follow all instructions given by the moderators and event coordinators.
  • All arguments must remain relevant to the topic and be presented in a respectful and appropriate manner.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable.

Rules & Regulations

  • The Debate Competition is strictly an individual event.
  • Participants must speak only on the topic assigned to them.
  • Participants must be prepared to argue either in favour of or against the topic.
  • Personal attacks, offensive language, discriminatory remarks, or inappropriate comments are strictly prohibited.
  • Arguments must be based on logical reasoning, relevant points, and effective communication.
  • Participants must not intentionally disrupt or interrupt another participant's speech.
  • Exceeding the allotted speaking time may result in penalties or deduction of marks.
  • Any form of unfair assistance or misconduct during the competition may lead to disqualification.
  • Participants must follow the instructions of the judges, moderators, and organizing committee.
  • Judges will evaluate participants based on the prescribed judging criteria and their decision regarding scoring, qualification, and final results shall be final.
  • Only participants selected by the judges/event officials after Round 1 will be permitted to compete in Round 2.
  • The final winners will be determined based on their performance in Round 2.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to modify the event format or schedule if required.
